July 11, 2023Instadriver, creating a driver-employer marketplace in Africa.
Instadriver, a Kenyan startup, aims to establish a seamless connection between reliable employers and proficient drivers who have undergone thorough verification processes. Instadriver seeks to address trust and transparency in the driver recruitment industry by facilitating this vital link. Through its innovative approach, Instadriver sets a new standard for the region's gig economy, empowering drivers and employers to build fruitful, long-lasting partnerships.
According to Eric Karugu, the Chief Technology Officer, Instadriver can be likened to LinkedIn for drivers. The platform currently boasts over 10,000 drivers and aims to create the world's largest database of drivers. As a platform specifically for drivers, the driver profiles are very detailed, which helps employers make informed hiring decisions. When finding the ideal driver for their business needs, employers can utilise a range of search filters to narrow down their options. These filters may include background checks, years of driving experience, the driver's license type, age, expected salary, and preferred location. By considering all these factors, employers can rest assured that they are selecting the best candidate for the job.
Implementing this method results in a marked reduction in the time required to complete the recruitment process, which can be highly beneficial for companies looking to streamline their hiring procedures.
There are various ride-hailing apps available such as Bolt and Uber. With Instadriver's SaaS tools, drivers can easily manage their gig business or have gig cars managed by gig partners. This software is designed specifically for the transport gig economy, enabling clients to earn money from their vehicles sustainably and stress-free. Additionally, Instadriver is developing a directory exclusively for transport businesses and mobility players. Companies can create their pages on Instadriver to sell their products and services.
DIGILOGIC selected Instadriver as one of twelve teams addressing digital logistics challenges in Africa. DIGILOGIC's partner's guide and support the chosen innovators, helping to improve and expand their solutions. DIGILOGIC partners BongoHive, MEST and VTT have provided business and technical support. For example, VTT offered invaluable support to Instadriver, ensuring its app is user-friendly, relevant, and meets the needs of its users. The mentoring and facilitation from DIGILOGIC have significantly enhanced the overall quality of their app.
Additionally, the Instadriver team travelled to the boot camp in Helsinki, Finland. They learned about new business growth strategies from world-class experts and networked with other East-African innovators. Recently, Instadriver showcased their solution at the AU-EU Innovation Festival during the DIGILOGIC Demo Day, connecting them with potential investors and collaborators.
The workshop concluded with each innovator recording their pitch. Watch the innovators' pitches playlist on DIGILOGIC YouTube channel.
