EU-Africa projects and initiatives
ENRICH IN AFRICA TEAM
Funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme and coordinated by Steinbeis 2i in Germany, ENRICH in Africa works with key partners and advisors from the innovation landscape of Europe and Africa. Together we address the needs for capacity development of incubators, accelerators, and entrepreneurs in both regions.
AEDIB|NET Project
AEDIB|NET is an European H2020 project meant to be a first step of a broader approach to enrich the African European Innovation ecosystem. The project has the objective to strengthen a common African European digital innovation ecosystem and promote intercontinental dialogue.
Digital for Development (D4D) Hub
D4D Hub is a global multi-stakeholder platform marks a turning point in the EU’s international partnerships to support a human-centric digital transformation. The D4D Hub bundles the multitude of digital initiatives by European actors for unparalleled coordinated impact.
Make-IT Alliance: We offer our members the opportunity to become part of an international network that promotes technology entrepreneurship in developing and emerging countries.
Each member of the Make-IT Alliance signed the Declaration of Intent (DoI). With the DOI, the Partners recognize that exceptional value can be created by combining their strengths, resources and networks.
Policy and Regulation Initiative for Digital Africa (PRIDA)
The "Policy and Regulation Initiative for Digital Africa" (PRIDA) is a joint initiative of the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), that enables the African continent to reap the benefits of digitalization by addressing various dimensions of broadband demand and supply in Africa and building the capacities of AU Member States in the Internet Governance space. It is supported by the EU-funded Pan African Programme.
Africa-Europe Innovation Partnership
The Africa-Europe Innovation Partnership aims to support and connect innovation and technology incubators and accelerators in tapping into new markets, find their trusted partner across the Mediterranean as well as build new perspectives, knowledge and networks. Incubators, accelerators and technology transfer offices play a key role in fostering development of innovative enterprises.
The AfriConEu project envisions to essentially strengthen and reinforce the digital innovation ecosystems in Africa by targeting existing Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) and supporting them through capacity building and networking activities.
African DIHs are playing a central role in the development of digital entrepreneurship and by raising their capacities to tackle the challenges they face they will be more effective in driving digital innovation forward.
HUBiquitous Project: Paving the Foundation for Disruptive Technologies in Tomorrow's Digital Innovation Hubs
HUBiquitous is an Innovation Action aiming at creating a joint Africa-Europe Startup & Innovation Ecosystem for long-term collaborations and partnerships. The project has the ambition to increase the technology level and capacity building of 30 local DIHs/TechHubs in 5 African countries.

Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs)
Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) are trade and development agreements negotiated between the EU and African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and regions. The EU’s trade relationship with ACP countries is governed by the Cotonou Partnership Agreement signed in 2000 between the EU, its Member States and ACP countries. As this comprehensive political, economic and development partnership is expiring in 2020, the Parties are currently negotiating a successor agreement (the so-called ‘post-Cotonou’ agreement).

A startup incubation centre will be built in Windhoek's Bokamoso Entreprenerial Centre.
MATCH - HIRING AFRICAN TALENTS
MATCH is a 36‑month initiative funded by the European Union (EU) aimed at providing highly skilled talents to private sector companies whose needs for qualified staff cannot be satisfied by the offer available on the EU labour market.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is a free trade area, outlined in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement among 54 of the 55 African Union nations. AfCFTA is the largest in the world in terms of participating countries since the formation of the World Trade Organization.

The Digital Agri Hub tracks the development of the digital agriculture (D4Ag) sector in low- and middle- income countries. Acting as a multi-actor knowledge broker and matchmaking platform, the Hub focuses on leveraging inclusive digital solutions for development and provides a unique perspective for scaling up and investing in digital agricultural innovations.

The thematic platforms offer a structure to exploit synergies across partnerships and across sectors. These platforms are joint initiatives, managed and coordinated by the Joint Research Centre (JRC), with the support of several EC's Directorates-General including Regional and Urban Policy (REGIO), Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI); Energy (ENER); Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (GROW) and Research and Innovation (RTD). It includes a "yellow pages" of Digital Innovation Hubs in Europe.
The European Technology Platform ALICE
The European Technology Platform ALICE is set-up to develop a comprehensive strategy for research, innovation and market deployment of logistics and supply chain management innovation in Europe. The platform will support and assist the implementation of the EU Program for research: Horizon 2020. ALICE is based on the recognition of the need for an overarching view on logistics and supply chain planning and control, in which shippers and logistics service providers closely collaborate to reach efficient logistics and supply chain operations.
DIHNET.EU: EU supports the collaboration among Digital Innovation Hub Networks across Europe
The DIHNET.EU project enables the coordination of European, national and regional initiates directly supporting the digital transformation and Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs). The project aims to create a sustainable pan-European network of networks, with a focus on regional DIHs.

It is promoted by the “Le Réseau” Association, in partnership with the Italian Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The Forum aims to foster economic and commercial partnerships between Italy and Africa, while also building a reference platform of dialogue between entrepreneurs of the African diaspora and the international Economic world.
