Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs)

Speeding up the developmentand uptake of digital innovations

Digital Innovation Hubs are one-stop-shops that help companies to become more competitive with regard to their business/production processes, products or services using digital technologies.

They are based upon technology infrastructure (Competence Centre - CC) and provide access to the latest knowledge, expertise and technology, so that companies can "test before invest" piloting, testing and experimenting with digital innovations.

They also provide innovation services, such as financing advice, training and skills development that are needed for a successful digital transformation. As proximity is considered crucial, they act as a first regional point of contact, a doorway, and strengthen the innovation ecosystem. A DIH is a regional multi-partner cooperation (including organizations like RTOs, universities, industry associations, chambers of commerce, incubator/accelerators, regional development agencies and even governments) usually orchestrated by a Hub orchestrator and cooperates with a network of regional and specialised DIHs.

Building on a European network of Digital Innovation Hubs, the European Commission aims to help companies improve their processes, products and services through the use of digital technologies.

For Europe to remain competitive internationally, all economic sectors must be able to reap the benefits of digital transformation.
