July 11, 2023DeftPal provides transformative solutions for supply chain and logistics SMEs in Africa.
DeftPal is a Ghana-based software company that offers business support to supply chain and logistics SMEs. They are committed to streamlining their clients’ operations and enabling them to achieve their business objectives through DeftPal’s RIMdesk platform.
At the DIGILOGIC challenge for innovative logistics solutions, RIMdesk was introduced as a digital workspace that can transform how SMEs function. African SMEs experience various obstacles that impede their progress and achievement, such as low customer satisfaction resulting from unstable product quality, restricted market entry, insufficient financial access, chaotic production processes, and wastage. RIMdesk has been created to empower SMEs to tackle these issues. The platform offers a complete range of tools to standardise operations and enhance productivity.
RIMdesk aims to help SMEs expand their market access and reach customers beyond their local areas. It also provides financial solutions to assist SMEs in demonstrating their viability and attracting investments. With RIMdesk, SMEs can access real-time information on all operations, including sales, procurement, production, bookkeeping, payments, and human resource management, allowing for better planning and decision-making.
One module of RIMdesk showed impressive results during prototype testing. Within 18 months, they processed $7 million in sales from five customers across 17 sales outlets, resulting in $3,000 in revenue.
DeftPal has been given a chance to connect with logistics start-ups and present their solution to potential investors with the assistance provided by DIGILOGIC. Project partners MEST and VTT have provided ideas for refining the RIMdesk system structure while providing business and technological mentoring on topics DeftPal prioritises.
The RIMdesk team consists of three experienced individuals who bring their unique skills. Kingsley, the co-founder and product manager, has nine years of experience working with start-ups and SMEs in the informal sector in Ghana. Theodora, another co-founder and director of partnerships, has 19 years of experience in banking and corporate finance, working with multinational organisations. Finally, Daniel, the co-founder and CTO, is a full-stack developer with nine years of experience building eCommerce, agriculture, and entertainment solutions. Together, their expertise in the SME sector and technology drives RIMdesk forward.
DeftPal and RIMdesk aim to help digitise and empower SMEs across Africa. Co-founder Kingsley understands the business's challenges: “We aim to provide efficient systems to help entrepreneurs save time and avoid reinventing the wheel with each new venture.”
The workshop concluded with each innovator recording their pitch. Watch the innovators' pitches playlist on DIGILOGIC YouTube channel.
