August 26, 2022DIGILOGIC successfully completed the first Capacity Building Programme
DIGILOGIC hosted its first Capacity Building Programme in June 2022. MEST and BongoHive DIGILOGIC team of trainers, facilitators and project managers took 35 young and committed innovators from Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Kenya and South Africa through the programme.
The participants were selected among over 200 applicants, who registered on the DIGILOGIC Community. They took part in pre-learning courses and interactive information sessions, designed to align their skills with the topics of the programme and answer all their questions.
The Capacity Building Programme covered: Design Thinking with the Business Model Canvas and Digital skills encompassing introduction to Figma, noting and mapping, sketching, designing, prototyping, testing and finally pitching.
The participants were organised in groups and encouraged to choose their group names and leaders.
Groups
Each day had our groups working on the training topic of the day and then working on their ideas in their group breakout sessions with a facilitator. work together to develop their cross-cultural communications, as well as problem solving, ideation, entrepreneurial skills to name a few. This was cemented by having a case study to work on that provided all the opportunities to develop a solution for Solar Taxi.
After each session the participants were able to download the programme and interact with their groups offline and online within the community platform. Their Figma boards were shared with each other and their facilitators were all part of the groups support system.
The participants were also given access to real live employers offering opportunities for internships and employment: SnooCode and Proctor & Gamble. Both of whom will be part of our Job Fair in January 2023.
The engagement and camaraderie of the groups was great, we had leaders, innovators, curious, capable and creative young people who were re-skilling and upskilling to enhance their employability and/or self-employment options.
They had demonstrated their competitive streaks as they vied for the coveted 4-week internship role with Solar Taxi by pitching their solutions. The winners, the Zumunci Group members, will start their internship from Monday 1st of August, 2022. All participants received certificates of Attendance.
"I like the way the program enables you interact with people from other parts of Africa."
"I was able to learn how to use a collaborative tool - Figma, learned how to deal with different cultures and improve on my teamwork and communication skills."
"It was great to bring together these young people, trainers and facilitators; who worked so hard and supported each other as well as develop their cross-cultural communications. They all will be an asset to any organisation. They are all winners." Toyin Dania – Project Manager - MEST
The second Capacity Building Programme will be held in in November 2022 and the applications will open in October.
