TECH TALK: Artificial Intelligence for Logistics
April 1, 2022DIGILOGIC at the Landlinked Zambia conference in Lusaka
The LandLinked Zambia Conference and Exhibition was held on 24th and 25th February in Lusaka at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre and saw the participation of over 300 attendees. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and Africast and was officiated by the Minister, Mr. Frank Tayali. The conference was held under the theme “Reconnecting within and beyond our borders for sustainability”.
The conference was attended by participants from around 13 countries from all over Africa, including Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Tanzania - which are popular travel routes to the ports. Zambia, being a country that is landlocked, does not have direct links to ports but serves as a connecting point to many points through Africa, particularly for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) trade zones. The conference, therefore, was held to highlight Zambia’s strategic location and cement its status as a trade and logistics hub. Attendees and exhibitors were from the public and private sectors, with representatives from the government agencies and regulators such as the Road Development Agency, Zambia Airports Limited, National Road Fund Agency and the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority. Plenary sessions were held on topics such as the Competitive Transport Corridor in Zambia, Cross-Border Trade Facilitation between Zambia, Sustainable Freight Railway Systems, to name a few.
BongoHive attended the conference, with an exhibition stand to showcase DIGILOGIC,. Simunza Muyangana (BongoHive co-founder and Director, Entrepreneurship) and Mareta Lindunda (Marketing and Communications Lead) represented the BongoHive team at the event. The exhibition stand was visited by the Minister, as well as officials from government ministries and regulatory agencies, and logistics service. Logistics business owners showed curiosity in the DIGILOGIC Challenges for innovators and its potential for the development of the industry.
