April 15, 2021Emerging Valley
DIGILOGIC participated in the panel “Maritime & digital economy: from logistics 2.0 to ocean preservation, are startups new drivers of maritime innovation?” organized by the Emerging Valley event on 8 April, 2021.
Adriano Mauro, Managing Director of Prototipi, based in Lagos (Nigeria) and leading DIGILOGIC dissemination and communication activities, contributed to the discussion moderated by Szymon Jagiello, Forbes Africa correspondent.
The discussion kicked off with Adriano presenting the 5 most relevant changes faced by the logistics industry in Africa in the last decade, which he summarised as follows:
- The transport and logistics industries are now in a perpetual state of disruption caused by the pandemic, trade policies, extreme weather.
- Evolving demands for urban logistics: raising megacities such as Cairo, Lagos, Nairobi pose new challenges.
- The intra-Africa trade is still well below other continents intra-trade, hopes are in the AFCTA agreement, coming into force this year.
- The digitalization has reinvented logistics, with new light assets business models and new players and startups challenging the incumbents.
